Personal Information We Collect – Sources and Types

When you visit our website, use our products and services, and/or otherwise interact with us, we collect your personal information through manual or automatic means.

- Personal identifiers: your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, Social Security number, driver’s license number, taxpayer identification number or other government-issued identifiers, Internet Protocol (IP) address, and any information contained in any customer reviews or communications with us, including any information provided in any recorded consultations by phone or on third-party platforms such as Zoom.

- Demographic information: your date of birth, martial status, household details, age, sex/gender, military/veteran status, marital status, immigration and citizenship status.

- Business and financial information (e.g., Tax Return information): your income and wage, details about your assets, expenses, financial statements, payroll details, and financial transactions, bank account numbers and other related information, and taxpayer-related information, including your name, Social Security number, spouse and dependent information, deductions, or other information included in your tax return(s).

- Payment information: your credit card or debit information and other details associated with your purchases. Any payments made in connection with our products and services are processed by third-party payment processors and we do not directly collect or store any payment information.

- Professional information: your occupation/profession and other information about your employer

- Sensitive personal information: your Social Security number or other government-issued identifier, business and financial information, including your Tax Return information, and your immigration and citizenship status for tax preparation purposes.

- Audio and visual information: any recordings of our communications with you (e.g., by phone or via Zoom) in connection with our services.

- Any personal information contained in any forms, files, or other documentation that you choose to upload or send to us.

- Internet or other electronic activity information: your Internet Protocol (IP) address, your device and browser information, your browsing and search history on our website, and information regarding your interactions with our websites and advertisements, including the pages that you visit, information about the links you click, the frequency and duration of your activities on our website, and other information about how you interact with our website.

We collect the same categories of personal information from other sources, including third-party services and publicly available sources, in connection with our products and services, such as our tax preparation services.

Categories of Personal Information We Sell or Share or Use for Targeted Advertising

We do not sell personal information or share it for purposes of cross-context behavioral advertising as such terms are defined under applicable data privacy laws and regulations.

No Profiling to Facilitate Decisions with Legal or Other Significant Effects

We do not engage in the automated processing of personal information to create profiles about individuals that are used in furtherance of decisions with legal or other similarly significant effects, such as the provision or denial of financial or lending services, housing, insurance, or access to essential goods or services. 

How We Use Your Personal Information

We use your personal information that we collect about you for the following purposes:

- To operate our business, including to provide you with our tax preparation and consultation services, set up and book your consultation(s), manage your personal information, and to process payment related transactions.

- To develop and provide our products and services, including to maintain, operate, repair, analyze, and improve the content and functionality of our website, to personalize your experience on our website, to enable your use of our website, and develop new products and features.

- To communicate with you, including to send you notices, surveys and other communications, respond to questions or comments submitted by you.

- To advertise and market to you, including to inform you of our and our partners’ products, services, features or promotions, provide you with newsletters, announcements, and other content, and to analyze the placement and effectiveness of our advertisements and other marketing efforts. You may choose to opt-out of receiving future marketing communications by following instructions contained in our communications or contacting us below.

- For administrative purposes, including to monitor, update and improve our website, to conduct internal business analysis, to conduct risk detection, to prevent fraud, activities that violate our Terms and Conditions or that are illegal, to comply with our legal and other reporting obligations, and to protect our rights and the rights and safety of our users or others.

Section 7216 of the Internal Revenue Code governs our use and disclosure of your Tax Return information and many state codes and their associated regulations. We use your Tax Return information only in accordance with applicable laws, including Section 7216 of the Internal Revenue Code, to prepare or assist in the preparation of tax returns; to allow tax professional to assist you with questions or tax preparation; to obtain, manage, or market services in connection with the preparation of tax returns; to provide you with our tax preparation products and services, or, if you expressly consent, other products or services; for other uses or disclosures as you expressly consent to from time to time; or as required by law.

Disclosures of Your Personal Information

We disclose your personal information we collect about you with certain third parties, including service providers that help us operate our business through payment processing, preparing your tax returns and other related documentation, securely managing, uploading, and transmitting your documentation to us in connection with our products and services, verifying and managing customer information, conducting audio and virtual consultation(s) and meeting(s), facilitating email communications, providing customer support, providing security services and cloud-based storage, hosting our website and assistance with other IT-related functions, advertising and marketing of our products and the products of our joint partners, and providing analytics information.

We also disclose your personal information as required or permitted by law to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process or government request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is legally required or otherwise necessary to protect our or others’ rights, property, or safety, including to law enforcement agencies, and judicial and regulatory authorities. Additionally, we disclose your personal information to third parties to help detect and protect against fraud or data security vulnerabilities. Do Not Track

The Do Not Track (“DNT”) signal is a privacy preference setting that users can set in certain web browsers to inform websites that you do not want to be tracked. We do not respond to or honor DNT signals at this time.

California Shine the Light

California Civil Code Section 1798.83, also known as the “Shine the Light” law, permits California residents that have an established business relationship with a business to annually request, free of charge, information about certain categories of personal information a business has disclosed to third parties for those parties’ direct marketing purposes in the preceding calendar year. Our products and services are not directed to minors under the age of 13. While we may receive personal information from a customer (e.g., a parent or a child’s legal guardian) related to minors under the age of 13, we do not knowingly collect any personal information directly from minors under 13.

Securing Your Personal Information

The security of your personal information is important to us. We implement and maintain reasonable security measures appropriate to the nature of the personal information that we collect, use, retain, transfer or otherwise process. However, there is no perfect security, and reasonable security is a process that involves risk management rather than risk elimination.
